Treatment Approach
Phobia treatment focuses on practical change rather than long discussions about the past. Using an integrative approach that combines hypnotherapy, solution‑focused techniques and behavioural (CBT) methods, sessions are structured to help you regain calm control and confidence quickly.
What to Expect
Most clients complete treatment in just a few focused sessions. Each meeting builds practical progress so that confidence transfers into everyday life situations. Sessions are held online and mirror the effectiveness of in‑person treatment.

Do you provide any face-to-face therapy?
Currently, all treatment sessions are conducted online via Microsoft Teams. This allows for convenient access and flexibility in scheduling sessions. Should there be any changes or exceptions in the future, we’ll be sure to inform you promptly.
Do you help with issues other than phobias?
I currently focus all my attention on helping people overcome phobias. However, I’m qualified and experienced in treating broader anxiety or depression-related issues too. If you would like help with something else, please drop me an email, and I’ll get back to you.
How many sessions will I need?
For isolated/specific phobias, our treatment is typically completed in three sessions. Examples include animal, environmental, situational, and bodily phobias. Complex phobias like agoraphobia or social phobia may require additional sessions, which will be discussed during the free assessment.
Why don’t you treat US or Canadian residents?
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to provide treatment to residents of the US or Canada due to legal and insurance constraints. We understand this may be disappointing and apologize for any inconvenience.
Is the treatment available to children?
I’m unable to provide treatment to minors due to the structure of the session and the nature of remote therapy. For effective treatment tailored to children, I recommend seeking face-to-face therapy with a qualified professional experienced in working with young individuals. To ensure you find a suitable therapist, consider consulting the National Council for Hypnotherapy’s register – https://www.hypnotherapists.org.uk/therapist-finder/.
Could you provide more information about hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused relaxation experienced by everyone in daily life. It’s a tool used in therapy to facilitate a calm state of mind, allowing us to work through treatment without anxiety hindering progress. Unlike stage hypnosis, it’s not sleep, and anyone can achieve this state, making it valuable for treating phobias.
Will exposure therapy be part of the treatment process?
You’ll be pleased to know that there is no direct exposure to your phobia trigger as part of the treatment. Unlike uncomfortable exposure therapy, our approach ensures a relaxed experience. We’ll monitor your progress, and any positive experiences you have in everyday life will occur naturally.
Are there any specific preparations I should make for the sessions?
The treatment is available via video call and on any device. It’s completed in the comfort of your own home, so there’s not much you need to prepare. Find a comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. Have a comfy seat you can lean back on. It’s recommended to bring headphones/earphones to the sessions. Always ensure your device is charged, and you have a stable internet connection. Other than that, we’ll cover everything as we go
What is the timeframe between sessions?
While the timing between sessions isn’t set in stone, they are generally spaced about a week apart. We can adjust this schedule to bring sessions closer together if needed to meet a deadline. However, it’s not advisable to separate sessions by more than a week.
How long does each session typically last?
Each session typically lasts between 75 and 90 minutes. However, I understand that everyone is unique, and we don’t rush the process.
Is it necessary for me to understand the origins of my phobia?
No, identifying the exact cause of your phobia is not necessary for treatment. Our approach focuses on future goals. During the process, we will discuss previous phobic incidents, but only with the intention of overcoming them, thereby facilitating effective treatment of your phobia.
What certifications do you possess?
As a qualified therapist for over 16 years, I hold certifications in hypnotherapy (NCFE awarded) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) obtained in 2008. Additionally, I am fully accredited by both the National Council for Hypnotherapy and the UK government’s Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council. Copies of my certificates are available on the homepage of my website.
Will the treatment be effective for me? Are there any guarantees?
While approximately 80%-90% of clients experience significant improvement and elimination of their phobia through our treatment, it would be misleading to promise guaranteed success for every individual. Success depends on various factors, including effort, determination, and motivation. Nonetheless, our structured approach has proven highly effective, with many clients overcoming lifelong phobias in just a few sessions, as evidenced by our Client Reviews.
